Being a parent is difficult at the best of times, but it’s even harder for people who don’t have family or financial resources to depend on. The parents of children referred for befrienders are often socially isolated and on a low income. Many of the families involved have a child with a disability or a parent with a mental health problem. The families often live in poor, overcrowded housing. Befrienders can provide much needed support and can help the children extend their horizons, grow in self-confidence and develop their interests. Our donation will be used to support the training and supervision of four new befrienders.
