Donation to Brighton Bike Hub
We’ve given £5,000 to Brighton Bike Hub. By enabling people, especially those on a low-income, to cycle, the organisation helps reduce carbon and toxic emissions and provides access to an affordable, efficient and healthy form of transport. Brighton Bike Hub run an inclusive workshop space equipped with tools and bike stands, mainly staffed by volunteers. Anyone can drop in to get free help repairing their bike with access to tools, advice and practical support.
They also receive donations of used and abandoned bikes (last year they received over 800), and refurbish these to sell at affordable prices at their workshop. Any bikes that can’t be refurbished are stripped for parts in order to reduce waste. The organisation provides half price bikes to people in need including homeless people, asylum seekers, care leavers and young people.
