£5,000 to Time To Talk Befriending

Time to Talk Befriending is an excellence-accredited befriending charity. Their small staff team and 300 volunteers seek to help older people overcome loneliness and social isolation. There is a direct correlation between low income and social isolation amongst older people. TTTB work within areas of Brighton which are amongst the 10% most deprived nationally. All their services are free, so there are no financial barriers to access. Services include one-to-one befriending, social events, and signposting and direct referrals to specialist support. In 2025 95% of scheme members agreed that befriending helped to overcome loneliness, and 86% of volunteers stated that befriending is a mutually beneficial experience.
